Certified Arborist Report

John the Arborist is proud to now offer Arborist Reports. An arborist report is a document prepared by a certified arborist, registered with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) that assesses the health and condition of a tree or group of trees. It includes a Tree Risk Assessment (TRA), a standardized set of testing and assessment parameters. It may contain a description of the tree’s health, structural integrity, and any signs of damage or disease, details about the surrounding area, including soil stability and wind patterns, and recommendations for tree care and maintenance.

TRA and Arborist Reports are often required for construction and development projects and may vary between city and county. It is often required with submission for a permit for any tree removals within the City of Bellingham, Legacy Trees (over 36 in diameter) or within Whatcom County watershed, streams, wetlands and shorelines.

Valuable Information:

  • When a project requires a written arborist report, risk assessment, or permitting documentation, a deposit is required prior to initiating that work. This ensures the professional time and expertise invoiced in preparing formal documentation is properly covered.
  • If any incorrect information is provided at the time of the assessment, the report is considered null and void and may require an additional assessment, which would incur additional costs.
